Edited Chase Scene

This chase scene comes from a film called "District 13" found on youtube.  I added some extra editing features and used this film to learn a lot about simultaneity at such a fast pace.  Even though the choreography is amazing, this film helped me understand more about the elements of putting together a riveting action chase scene.

Chase Scene Storyboard

This storyboard is of a chase scene that I made up to experiment with different camera angles, split screens, and plot twists.

Independent Project

For my independent project, I am planning on further exploring the concept of split screen and simultaneity by shooting a chase scene. The different ideas of ways that I can show this is first by creating a storyboard of the chase scene. Second, I could use a previous video, possibly from youtube, and re-editing it. Also, I was throwing around ideas regarding the nature of chase scenes. Maybe I could not reveal the cause of the scene until the very end or have my characters be extremely clumsy or slow or even very violent. I am going to try to just brainstorm and research different twists on chase scenes. Hopefully this work will lead to a good idea for this project.

Original Commercial

The commercial I chose to re-edit is an old school Pops cereal commercial from the 1980s or 90's. It opens with a boy running towards the camera and doing a front-flip. Then the music kicks in and it's a song specifically for the sale of this cereal. The next shot is of a young girl eating a spoonful of Pops. It transitions to the next shot using floating Pops on a bright yellow background. The next shot is of a a young boy hitting a tennis ball. It then shows the Pops logo with bits of Pops cereal exploding out of the O. Then the narrator states, "The Pops sensation of Kellogg's corn pops cereal...part of this nutritious breakfast." It then shows an image of a healthy breakfast featuring Pops. The commercial then proceeds to show boys playing football and a girl eating a spoonful of Pops. After that, the commercial cuts to a promotional piece that features Wacky Wall Walker toys. It shows two boys throwing these sticky toys on a mirror and the wall walkers tumbling down the wall. It then explains how this wacky toy glows in the dark and is free in corn pops. The final shot is of a Pops box and an image of the wacky wall walker next to it.
